3 Easy Habits To Stick To In The Kitchen In 2021

At the end of each year, I like to reflect and see what new habits I want to start in the new year. This year has been a crazy one, and it's fair to say that I've been in a bit of a slump over the last few months. But I want to start the new year fresh, so I'm planning what good habits I want to form to make sure 2021 is a better one.

Here are my top 3 how I plan to stick with them:

New Habit #1 - Start Cooking More Diverse Recipes

One of my favourite things to do is try out new food. I couldn't go out to eat as much this year, so I ended up surviving on frozen foods. As you can imagine, this got very repetitive and mealtimes became boring (not to mention unhealthy).

My friend recommended HelloFresh, a recipe box that delivers all the fresh, pre-portioned ingredients to your doorstep every week. Turns out, you get to choose your meals from their packed menu each week which includes tons of globally-inspired cuisines. There are Indian, Mediterranean, Chinese, Mexican, and tons more.

The Malaysian Style Coconutty Chicken Curry looked delicious, and I could pause or cancel the subscription at any point, so I decided to try it out. And I'm so glad I did. I've been cooking wholesome home-cooked meals, while trying new cuisines every week! My favourite so far was the Teriyaki Beef Mince. Mmm.

New Habit #2 - Be more sustainable

This year, a huge focus for me is to make more sustainable choices. So, when I read that HelloFresh could help me do this, I was excited.

HelloFresh is the first recipe box committed to offsetting 100% of direct carbon emissions, making it a great eco-friendly choice. Their pre-portioned ingredients also mean there's more taste and less waste so I knew I was cooking up more sustainable meals everyday. There's nothing I hate more than wasting food and seeing a huge pile of plastic in my recycling bin, so knowing HelloFresh could help me with both of these things was a big relief.

New Habit #3 - Get Into a Better Weekly Routine

This year has been a lazy year for me. After a few weeks of WFH, I started getting up later, making less effort to do exercise, and eating badly. Now, I've started to get up and go for a walk every day before work, and it's so good to clear my head before getting back to work.

Now that I'm making more home-cooked meals, I have more energy. Every evening after work, I look forward to making my HelloFresh recipe. The fact that the ingredients are pre-portioned and come with an easy-to-follow recipe card, means the meals only take about 30 minutes since there's barely any prep involved.

HelloFresh has been a game-changer for me. Not only have I been saving money thanks to meals starting at £3.25 per portion but I've been eating more wholesome and globally-inspired cuisines. Getting ingredients delivered to my door every week is beyond convenient, and means I don't have to spend time going to the supermarket.

I feel a sense of accomplishment every time I sit down to eat a meal I've made from scratch, with a little help from HelloFresh. HelloFresh has definitely helped me form better habits, I'd highly recommend trying it.
