No one has ever felt indifferent about New York City. It's the kind of place that you either fall in love with or can't leave fast enough. As for you, we know you love New York, because if you didn't, you couldn't tolerate living here; and if you didn't live in New York, you wouldn't be reading this. Of course, it's not up for debate that the Big Apple is a filthy, crowded, overwhelming, miraculous place, and sometimes—no matter how much you love it—you just need to get away. So, the next time you feel like you'll lose your mind if you don't see a tree soon, check out one of these easy getaways, each just a short journey from NYC!
If you've seen the most recent season of Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, then you know that the Catskills have been a popular destination for New Yorkers for a long time. To get there, ride the Adirondack Trailways bus from Port Authority for three hours to the center of Phoenicia, or drive two hours. There are lots of cute towns throughout the Catskills and plenty of great places to stay, like Kate's Lazy Meadow (from $189 during peak weekends) in Mount Tremper and Getaway (two-person cabins start at $150) in Catskill.
