Daily Burn: Motivating Workouts That Actually Deliver
I approach workouts the way that many of us do: I want to be committed, but I need a class or trainer to stay disciplined. That’s why I was skeptical when a friend told me about live streaming workouts. I wasn’t convinced I’d be motivated enough to exercise from home. But when my work schedule made it impossible for me to get to the gym regularly, and when I saw that Bob Harper (who I’ve loved since The Biggest Loser came out) helped design Daily Burn’s training programs, I knew I needed to give it a shot.
For those of you who haven’t heard of it, Daily Burnis an online fitness program that provides over 1,000 live on-demand workouts and training programs taught by expert instructors and tailored to your specific needs. When you sign up, you’ll answer some questions about your fitness level and goals so they can recommend the most effective classes and programs for you. My goals aren’t that unique: lose a few pounds for summer and exercise on a regular basis. As someone who has tried and failed to work out with random YouTube videos and drop-in classes, I was curious to see how a more structured and targeted home fitness program would work.
I work better with a plan I can stick to, so I started with a training program called Total Cardio, a 28-day plan with fast-paced workouts to burn calories. The trainers all specialize in different areas, so I knew I would get the variety I needed to stay on track. I was surprised by how quickly the 28 days went by, and even more surprised by the results. I was able to work out consistently 3-4 days a week, and even lost a few pounds. Lately, I’ve been working out to Bob Harper’s program called Black Fire – these are high-intensity sessions lasting 20 minutes five days a week. He’s super motivating and pushes me harder than I thought possible. The classes were fun and easy to stick to when I had to travel for work, since I could access videos on my tablet and didn’t need any equipment. I even had the option to download audio classes for when I was on the go.
Getting started with a training program was a great way for me to get used to working out with videos, and since then I have tried some yoga, dance, and strength training classes. I love the mix of workouts, and that I’m able to choose a class that’s as long or intense as I need depending on where I am and how much time I have. Plus, when I do the live workouts, it makes me feel like I’m in a group class, only one that works on my clock.
The best part is that Daily Burn is completely affordable. For $19.95/month, I get great and challenging workouts and have even been meeting my fitness and weight loss goals despite my crazy schedule. But don’t just take it from me. Try it for yourself.
