I Used Splendid Spoon For One Month, Here's What Happened

I don't have to see my Postmates history to know that I need to make some changes. All my friends are going crazy with diets lately, but I know I will never stick to them and mostly cause I've zero interest in all those fad diets.

But I needed to make some sort of change, and maybe start eating food that's actually nutritious for my body in a healthy way. For me, it needs to be easy, convenient, and healthy, but still tasty and most of all flexible. I know, I was asking for a lot and that's why I was so surprised why my friend Amy said Splendid Spoon was exactly what I needed.

There was no way this subscription service that sends you ready to eat meals covered everything I was looking for. But that evening I couldn't help giving Splendid Spoon a little snoop. I was drooling reading all of their 50+ soups, grain bowls, noodle bowls, and smoothies they offer. All the meals were made with real whole food ingredients, are vegan, gluten-free, and GMO-free. So they certainly have the healthy box ticked. And the best part is they all come ready to eat in pre-portioned containers, all you have to heat the soups and bowls up in the microwave.

And it's flexible, I decide what I get and when I get it.

It all sounded great but I'm terrible at sticking to anything so here's how my first month trying Splendid Spoon went;

Week 1:

Placing my first order was easy. I signed up in 2 minutes, telling them that I don't like cilantro or anything too spicy and that I want my order delivered every Monday. I opted for the Breakfast, Lunch + 1 Day Reset plan, which gave me 5 smoothies and 5 soups and grain bowls and some light soups to kickstart my first day.

Then I got to choose which smoothies, soups, and grain bowls I wanted for that week. I was shocked reading the ingredients. The meals really are full of vegetables, real whole foods and amazing superfoods.

Right on time the following Monday my Splendid Spoon box arrived at my doorstep. I placed them in my fridge knowing they would be good in here for a week. The packaging also said I could freeze them for up to a month.

I'd already had a cream cheese bagel for breakfast but I did have my first soup for lunch. Who knew Pumpkin Pear Bisque makes the tastiest soup. I enjoyed every last drop and to my surprise, it kept me full till dinner.

The next morning it was time to test the first smoothie. I don't have a major sweet tooth and I must admit, I don't eat a lot of fruit, so smoothies were never my thing. But the Cacao Almond one was super satisfying and kept me full till my Red Beet Buddha Bowl at lunch.

Week 2:

Like clockwork, my Splendid Spoon Breakfast smoothies and grain bowls arrived at my door on Monday.

I was really happy to start a new week with them. Yes, I had takeout on Saturday and Sunday, but for me, that is what the weekend is for. It's the balance I needed and was loving how Splendid Spoon's five-day plan worked perfectly with my new plan. After a weekend of my old food, I wasn't even dreading a week of healthy meals, instead, I was looking forward to trying the new flavors I picked.

I wanted to try all of them before choosing my favorite and repeating them. But everyone I tried was just as good as the last. Even their Green Matcha smoothie was so good, forget all the other green smoothies you've had, this one trumps them all.

Week 3:

I don't want to jinx it but have I finally found the perfect healthy eating plan? When it's this easy and delicious how could I not want to stick with it? I was enjoying Splendid Spoon so much I decided to switch my plan and go with the Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner + 1 Day Reset. Mostly because it would mean my whole Monday-Friday meals would be covered but also cause it tasted so good I wanted it for dinner too.

But also because Splendid Spoon was taking the stress and time of thinking about what to eat out of my days. No prep, no cooking, or waiting for it to be delivered every day meant I had more time for myself.

Week 4:

Having my Monday-Friday meals taken care of is bliss, so I stuck with the Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner + Reset plan. The extra time is great, but the extra energy, the feeling of fullness after every meal, and never feeling sluggish anymore is making me realize the benefits of eating nutritious whole foods for your body.

So when I order my take out at the weekends, I enjoy it even more cause I know it's my treat and I'll be back to my healthy and delicious soups, smoothies, grain bowls, and noodles on Monday with Splendid Spoon.
