Portugal's tourism industry has been slowly growing for several years for good reason. It has all the old-world charm of more well-traveled cities like Paris and Rome—and half the crowds. It's also far more affordable. You can easily get away with spending $100 per day on food and accommodations (if you use Airbnb—hotels will run you a bit more) without feeling like you're penny-pinching.
