Top 5 Ways to Turn Isolation into Staycation

Have your travel plans been canceled? Let us help you utilize that time off

Have your travel plans been canceled recently? Do you still wanna take the time off from work? While the recent mass quarantines have put a damper on millions of travel plans, a "staycation" can still be a fun and relaxing way to mentally take a breather from work. Sure, it's not drinking pina coladas on the sunlit poolside in Boca Vista, but consult our tips below so you can still make the most out of your well-deserved time off.

Create a Budget

While you most likely won't be going anywhere on this particular staycation, it's still important to make sure you don't blow through your savings on Seamless orders and Nintendo Switch games. Don't go into debt during this time, and leave the credit cards alone, get it?

Create a To-Do List

We mean this in the best way possible! Download those Switch games you've been salivating over for months but haven't yet found the time to play. Make a list of those movies you meant to watch last Oscar season. Go online and maybe find some vastly time-consuming board games for you and your loved ones. This is where you really get to have some fun!

Crack Open That Cookbook

By now, you've stocked up on plenty of toilet paper and beans, plan a big run to the grocery store, and think about what meals you want to indulge in during the week. Want to take a crack at Steak Tar-Tare? Maybe try your hand at mastering a soufflé? Maybe you just wanna grab some yeast and make a really delectable loaf of bread. Either way, this is your time to experiment, so use it!

Self-Care

While there may be a strong desire to drink in quarantine, take this time to really take care of your mind and body. Stock up on vitamins, maybe plan to go for a jog 3 times a week, or purchase a couple of face masks–no, not those kind of face masks, silly– and essential oils. This is your time to take care of yourself, so use it to the best of your ability!

Create Something Beautiful!

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at writing a play? Maybe craft a Sci-Fi short story? Maybe you want to paint, or get back into playing the piano. This is your time to let your brain run wild, so find a hobby to invest in that isn't just Netflix!
