The key to a memorable vacation is in the details. It’s also in choosing the right location. You have to go somewhere that gives you this range of experiences. And since everyone is looking for the same versatile vacation, you’re going to want to book early.
For family travel, timing is everything. By securing your summer escape in advance you can hop on great deals, exclusive experiences, and snag your dream stays. You also get more time to plan those oh-so-important details.

First, define your vision: This step is for dreaming big. If you could have your dream family summer vacation, where would you go? What would you do? Hone in on the key components. Are you seeking cultural immersion, outdoor adventures, or serene beach vibes? Align your destination with your family's vision.
Make a (realistic) budget: You are what you can afford. Maybe a Kardashian-style trip to Amangiri isn’t in your future, but by planning in advance, you can budget for something great. Make sure to consider accommodation, travel, meals, and activities — then leave some buffer for snacks, shopping, and surprises.
Consult the fam: Get the family involved in the planning process — at least at the beginning. You can sort out the details, but making the family feel included goes a long way to spark inspiration and make sure you’re not totally on the wrong track.
Be flexible: While planning is essential, no one wants to feel overscheduled. Leave room for spontaneity. Keep a day free to explore and find a vacation spot that boasts lots of opportunities to explore and visit local favorite spots.

For a more unique take on family-friendly Euro summer, head to Scotland for history and haggis. Seriously, though, Edi is one of the coolest cities in the UK — with one of the best food scenes. SO, don’t be scared off by promises of blood pudding. Head to Scotland for a city steeped in history and culture, for a food-focused vacation. This is my personal favourite way to vacation.
