2017’s most fun cities in America

Fun can be found from sea to shining sea

America is arguably the greatest country in the world. Sure, every place on Earth has its perks and plusses, but America is the ultimate melting pot of rich and robust culture paired with the breathtaking beauty of nature, man-made excitement and adventure, and a vast array of things to see and do.

From sea to shining sea, America's joys should never be taken for granted, and no matter which state you're in or travel to, there is bound to be something thrilling and awe-inspiring to take in. There is fun to be had no matter where you stay or go, making the U.S.A. one of the most fun countries on the planet.

That said, some cities are more fun than others, based on a report by the personal finance website, WalletHub. Their team of experts compared the 150 largest cities in the country to determine which is the most fun overall. Of course, "fun" means something different to everyone, but WalletHub's assessment which focused on 58 key metrics took all sorts of measures into account to come up with their fun-based findings. They note, "What makes a fun city? We define such a place as one that packs a little bit of everything for everyone. In a city with enough variety, you won't have to compromise." Seems rational and reasonable.

Some of the key metrics used to create the ranking include the most festivals per capita, the most restaurants per capita, the most parks/playgrounds per capita, the most fitness centers per capita, the most accessible bars, the most dance clubs per capita, movie costs, and more fun stuff. Using these factors paired with their cost-effectiveness, WalletHub ranked these 150 large U.S. cities from best to worst in terms of their "fun factor."
