Lately it seems like brunching is a sport, especially in big metropolitan areas where restaurants compete to be the best, most exclusive, or unobtainable spot any time on Sunday between 10 and 4. In NYC it's practically impossible to get a table at one of the hotter spots without a reservation. My cousins, local to Miami filled me in on some of the best spots down South for a Sunday funday brunch and I organized their recommendations based on the kind of bruncher you are.

The NYC Nostalgic Bruncher

Miami transplant missing your favorite New York deli? Fear not, Josh's Deli in Surfside is everything you wish your favorite NYC Jewish deli was. I stumbled in there last time I was in Miami and had their french toast that was made with challah bread and white chocolate chips that melted in your mouth. Their bagels are made fresh daily, much like a NYC deli and their meats are all cured, smoked, or roasted in house. Their menu frequently changes so you can expect to be surprised with a new deli-inspired dish every time you go.

The Adventurous Eater

Looking for a spot with just about everything you couldn't possibly think of? Look no further! Michael's Genuine Food and Drink has one of the most bizarre menus I've seen, but in the best way possible. I did a double take when I first saw that they make Monkey Bread, something that was a childhood favorite of mine and that I was sure was invented in my mom's kitchen. They also have other unique dishes like Breakfast Pizza (with short ribs on top, YUM!), a Mango Sundae, and yummy cocktails.

The Boozy Bruncher

Want to get your bang for your buck at a boozy brunch? Visit George's on Sunset! George's boasts $15 bottomless mimosa special on the weekends. Their mimosas are normally priced at $5, so after 3, you've already made it well worth your money! In addition to great drink specials they also have some mouth watering entrees some of my favorites including: challah french toast with nutella, raspberry pancakes, along with more savory pizza, pasta, and salad options.

The Classic

For a pleasantly classic brunch, try Bakehouse Brasserie. Their menu is pretty standard for a brunch spot with everything from sweet breakfast options to a wonderful black bean burger, all beautifully presented. They are known for their delicious pasteries and baked goods such as the almond croissant. They have a nice selection of drinks unique to their brunch menu. For a hot summer day, try their South of Frose frozen rose drink.

The Hip Foodie

Looking for a hip spot to chow down with your squad? Check out Morgan's located in sought-oft Wynwood. Surrounded by cool graffiti and art installations, Morgan's atmosphere is cool and laid back. Their menu is broad and eclectic of the world's best dishes from Southern comfort-eque chicken and waffles to a full English breakfast. If you have a sweet tooth, try their chocolate dipped waffle.

Miami brunch has something for everyone from the quiet to the rambunctious to the cultured. Next time you visit, pencil in an hour (or three) for brunch!
